The Background World of Tanks is a freemium 3D team-based, multiplayer online game, featuring historically accurate fighting vehicles from the 1930s to the 1950s, including more than 90 armored vehicles from The Soviet Union, Germany and US.
The Challenge To direct a video game teaser overseas with a large number of CG artists under a tight deadline, with the end goal to not only appease the die hard fans but also increase exposure and new players.
The Strategy Director Steven Ilous utilized his extensive VFX knowledge to help execute the spot and maximize the assets already built. Steven conducted extensive research into all aspects of this spot to accurately create a piece that would hold up to most critical fans.
The Experience Spending nearly three months in Europe, Steven worked with three separate visual effects teams, totaling more than 60 people, to ensure the spot met the client's deadline and his artistic vision. Finishing off the project in Los Angeles, this project proved that international teams can deliver high-end, big-budget spots.
